RISWCD is affiliated with many like-minded organizations. We support and work alongside those whose interests lie in improving soil, crops, water, and topography within Rock Island county. Some of these organizations report to or are housed in the same facility as RISWCD. As such, they know us and we know them! And they are terrific people to work with. Here’s a general overview of these programs.
Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS)
NRCS puts more than 84 years of experience to work in assisting owners of America’s private land with conserving their soil, water, and other natural resources. Local, state and federal agencies and policymakers also rely on our expertise. We deliver technical assistance based on sound science and suited to a customer’s specific needs. Cost share and financial incentives are available in some cases. Most work is done with local partners. Our partnership with local Soil and Water Conservation Districts and other partners is essential. Participation in NRCS programs is voluntary. With small teams of technical specialists in nearly every Illinois county, assistance from a conservation professional is just a phone call away! (Source: NRCS: Illinois)

Precision Conservation Management (PCM)
The vision of PCM is to assist farmers in their efforts to make economically viable conservation decisions, based on real-life, unbiased farmer data. PCM believes in bringing supply chain support to farmers who want to improve conservation practices, and reduce financial risk when adopting regenerative farming practices. They leverage the global sustainability movement by partnering companies striving for greener products with the farmers growing them, and encouraging a mindset of shared responsibility across the entire supply chain.
RISWCD works alongside the Northwest region’s PCM Specialist, Lou Liva.
Lou works to help farmers understand the financial impacts of adopting in-field conservation practices, and assists farmers in maximizing cost share opportunities through public and private revenue streams. You can reach Lou at 309-391-2346 or email him at lliva@precisionconservation.org
